For those of you that are parents, you are well aware that the first two weeks after having a baby are filled with a wholeeeeee lot of feels....the overwhelming joy, the intense sleep deprivation, the pinch me- I can't believe this is real life feel. One of my personal favorites and one that I witnessed during this shoot the most was that breathless feeling you get when you look at your baby for the first time and then every time after that. Caitlin & Tyler had their first baby last month. They gave her the name Sawyer Rose, and she is equally as sweet and beautiful as her sweet and beautiful name. I had this special opportunity thanks to some coworkers of both myself and Caitlin. Caitlin is a pediatric nurse and so with myself being a postpartum nurse at LVHN, we most likely crossed paths in the past, but it wasn't until I met her for this photo shoot did I realize how sweet of a person I was essentially working alongside for several years.
When it comes to new parenting, Caitlin & Tyler are definitely outliers. I have seen a lot, meaning a LOT of parents go through the postpartum period and every so often, there's a couple that isn't totally and completely rocked by this new human placed into their lives. From the moment I arrived to the minute I left, these two new parents gave ME the feels (with some added baby fever) by the way they looked at Sawyer, held her, kissed her, and even changed her diaper as a team effort! Granted they HAD to be tired, but Caitlin & Tyler's intense and selfless love for each other and Sawyer trumped any ounce of fatigue, and instead gave each other that precious look over and over...and if you're not familiar with "the look," it's the one that keeps us OB nurses in business ; )
